Mindful Pleasure: Introducing the iroha zen
The newest line from iroha, TENGA’s line of vibrators designed by women, for women: the iroha zen! Read on to find out all about this new mid-range member of the iroha family.
We’re guessing you know TENGA — that’s the blog you’re on, anyway — but some of you may be unfamiliar with iroha. iroha is a brand of pleasure products designed by women, for women, produced by TENGA Co., Ltd. It was first launched in 2013, and includes the iroha series, iroha+ series, iroha MIKAZUKI and MINAMO, iroha mini, and iroha stick. Each series from the iroha brand has placed importance on beautiful design, function, and a calming aesthetic; this has been taken to a new level with the iroha zen. The fundamental design of the item itself is inspired by the Chasen, a bamboo whisk used to prepare matcha, a type of powdered green tea. This traditional Japanese influence has followed through from the initial concept all the way to the final design, down to the product posters and promotional video.
The names of each version are tea-inspired — the green MATCHA (powdered green tea), the pink HANACHA (floral tea) and the orange YUZUCHA (citrus tea).
As it has been with every line so far from the iroha brand, everything from the initial concept and the engineering inside to the promotional graphics and package design was done by women. iroha first began as a brand ‘by women, for women’, and has stuck to that ever since (of course, that doesn’t mean only women can use its products — vibrations and the pleasure induced thereby are hardly discriminatory!)
Powered by two AAA batteries and operated with just one button, the zen is simple to use — pressing the button when the item is on will cycle through three vibration strengths and one pulse pattern. There’s finally an item available with iroha’s dust-proof coating and unique Soft-Touch silicone at a much lower cost than before— we hope that this will help in making that beloved ‘iroha squish’ more accessible for more people!
